Having held many jobs to support himself throughout his education, Mike Renner is a firm supporter of “workhorse” scholars and the mission of the Erickson Merkel Foundation.
A North Dakota native, Mike attended Bismarck State College for two years before earning his bachelors in English and Mass Communications from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Mike’s professional background is in the printing industry, where he has used his artistic sensibilities as a graphic designer, sign maker, and print specialist. In 2009, Mike’s interest in education and travel led him abroad. In addition to teaching at public and private institutions in Taiwan, Mike is proud to have taken part in a volunteer opportunity in the country of Georgia, as part of state sponsored English language learning initiative.
Since returning to North Dakota, he has launched Up & Running Web Design, a successful web and marketing firm based in Bismarck. Currently, Up & Running provides several paid internship opportunities to local college students.
Upon first hearing of the mission of EMF, Mike was thrilled to be part of the cause.
“This is a chance for business and community to support students in a real and meaningful way. It’s a chance to honor the virtues we all hold dear.”
